In early summer, the thin, wiry stems emerge, set with spiny leaves. The branched stems carry a profusion of small, sea holly flowers in bright, steely blue

How to grow Eryngium – Planum

How to sow Eryngium seeds

To get the best germination, the seeds need a period of cold. The seed can be grown all year round. In the winter, sow the seeds and place them in a cold greenhouse or cold frame.

The germination can be slow and erratic so allow up to 3 months. In the spring and summer, sow the seeds and seal them in a polythene bag and place in the fridge for a few weeks before placing them outside.
