A true classic for UK gardens. ‘Gardeners Delight’ is a popular cordon (indeterminate/vine) tomato that produces long trusses of small, sweet, flavoursome fruits – great for salads, lunchboxes and snacking.

Simple sow & grow (UK)

1) When to sow
• Under cover/indoors: late Feb–April (earlier only with good warmth and light)

2) How to sow
• Sow indoors/under cover into seed compost
• Sow about 0.5cm deep (lightly cover)
• Keep warm (about 18–21°C) and keep compost just moist
• Germination is often 8–14 days in good conditions

3) Pot on
• When seedlings have their first true leaves, pot on individually into small pots
• Grow on somewhere bright

4) Plant out
• Harden off for 7–10 days
• Plant out after the last frost (or into a greenhouse/polytunnel earlier)
• Space about 45cm apart, or one plant per large pot/growbag position

5) Care (cordon method)
• Support with a cane or string
• Pinch out side shoots regularly (shoots that grow between the main stem and leaves)
• Water little and often for steady growth
• Feed weekly once flowers appear / first fruits set

6) Harvest
• Pick regularly once ripe to encourage more fruit
• Harvest through summer into early autumn depending on conditions
