Lollo Rossa has a delightful deep red tinge over most of the leaves with the added bonus of a distinct texture with their curly leaves. This variety of lettuce is a loose-leaf type, great as a pick-and-grow lettuce again.
We have been growing this ourselves for the last couple of years, and it is a great flavour and colour for your homegrown salads.

How to grow Lollo Rossa
When
Sow. End of February-July
How?
Sowings can be made under glass, sow seeds into pots or trays of seed sowing compost at a temperature of 15-20C and lightly cover seeds with a sprinkling of vermiculite or compost. Alternatively, sow seeds from April thinly along rows 1.5cm (1/2in) deep and 30cm (12in) apart direct in the vegetable plot.
