  • Space seeds 2cm apart in rows 15cm apart.

  • Keep moist and well ventilated.

🔁 Transplanting:

  • When seedlings are 5–7cm tall, transplant to final growing position.

  • Space 40–50cm apart in rows 50–60cm apart.

  • Remove yellowing leaves and check for pests like cabbage white caterpillars.

🥬 Best Companion Plants for Cabbage (for strength & endurance)

These plants repel pests, improve growth, or support soil health:

Helpful Companions

  • Dill – attracts predatory insects that eat cabbage worms and aphids.

  • Onions / Salad Onion ‘Lilia’ – their strong smell helps deter cabbage moths and aphids.

  • Nasturtiums – act as a sacrificial crop, luring aphids and caterpillars away.

  • Beetroot – low-competition root crop that complements cabbage’s space.

  • Chamomile – may improve flavour and strength of brassicas like cabbage.

  • Thyme – repels cabbage worms and adds a lovely scent to nearby borders.

🚫 Avoid Planting With

  • Strawberries – may compete for nutrients and invite slugs.

  • Tomatoes / Peppers – cabbage prefers cooler soil; these like heat.

  • Pole Beans – can hinder cabbage growth when competing for nitrogen.

🌿 Endurance Tip:

Interplanting with herbs like dill and thyme not only repels pests naturally but also helps the cabbage focus its energy on leafy growth — supporting better endurance during drought, heat waves, or pest outbreaks.

🗓 Harvest:
November through February, once heads are firm and full.
