RHUBARB SEED - "VICTORIA" - 50 SEEDS

The best rhubarb for cooking with, it has a noticeably sweeter and milder taste. Victoria has deep crimson, red stalks that are slender and very tender. Victoria is one of the largest and one the easiest to grow from seed, plus can be harvested one year after sowing.

Rhubarb is very versatile; it has been used to make puddings & jams, and, our favourite, crumbles.

We grew a few plants this year for a patch from seed and were amazed at how quickly they grew.

Did you know? Rhubarb is high in Vitamin k, which is essential for bone health, it's also high in antioxidants. A big favourite with many chefs.

How to grow Rhubarb Victoria

When

Sow.  March-April

How?

soak seeds for an hour before planting

Sow 2 seeds per pot in good quality soil-based compost at 5mm deep at a minimum temperature of 70 F to ensure good germination.

Once they have germinated, move to a well-lit cooler location.

At around 60 days, thin to the strongest plant and acclimatize to outdoor conditions.

When 6-8 inches in height, plant out to their final growing position in good light with ample organic matter dug in.

Plants should achieve 12 inches in height at the end of the first season.
