The Roma tomato is a medium to  late type of tomato, producing plum-shaped fruits that are ideal for cooking or bottling. ( Think homemade bolognaise, passata or lasagne)

The plant will produce medium to small-sized fruit of approximately 60gm in weight with good resistance to disease. This type can also be grown under glass.

How to grow Roma VF

When

Sow.  January-April

How?

Sow seeds under glass 0.5cm (1/4 in) deep in pots or trays of good seed-sowing compost and lightly cover with a sprinkling of vermiculite or compost. Place containers in a propagator at a temperature of 18–21°C 

Prick out seedlings, once large enough to handle, into 9cm (3 1/2in) pots. Transplant to individual large pots, or 3 plants per grow bag when 20cm (8in) high. These can also be planted outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.

Plants have a bushy habit and do not require site shooting. Water and feed the plant regularly with a high potash feed once the first truss has set.
